Default openbelt primary kit

I have a 1971 ironhead sportster special construction built chopper/ bobber, and i want to be the only one in my home town to have a ironhead sportster with a open belt primary with a sucide shift, can anybody tell me whare i can buy the kit ? Well i am fabricating my own jockey shift cluch set up, my self.

You will probably be the only one in your state. No one makes an open primary belt drive kit for Ironheads. No one makes a belt kit at all. Sorry.

Does not " karata" make a ironhead primary belt drive ? http://www.karata.com/primary.htm
shows for 71-76 sporty , and 81-84. page however says "out of stock" so may be thay dont mfg anymore, but they did. i take it these were not ran as open primary ?

I think there is guy in Queensland Australia who has done this. Try Ferrous Head at http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/member.php?u=43449 as I believe he is into racing Ironheads and has done this conversion.

Let me know the outcome as would like to do this also.

katatas,were run wet.someone posted recently on this forum that they tried to order one,and was told they dont make them anymore.

Yeah, they were expensive over $4,000 I believe and required machining to install as the tranny and primary are lubed from the same place. But as always with enough money patience and determination you can make just about anything happen. Although why anyone would want to run this ludicrously dangerous set up is beyond me. But I guess thats why Baskin Robins makes 31 flavors. I would suggest that if one is interested in running a nostalgia bike , just buy one. I've seen a ton of old shovelheads and panheads running open primaries and foot clutches for sale.
