Loud pipes save lives!!!
If that was true, just imagine what actually learning how to ride and using proper gear would do.
I expect this place will get real fun in about ten minutes.

Welcome to the forum, and wow, here's comes a big ol heaping can of worms for sure haha.
But I am one that swears by this. I commuted for almost 20 years by bike, 120 miles round trip a day, or 600 miles a week, in some of nations worst traffic. Logged hundreds of thousands of miles and went through a few bikes during that time. And each time I got a new one with a stock (silent) exhaust, I had WAY more close calls than I did when I had an exhaust on my bike. AND I rode past a lot of fellow co-workers (place had 5,000 workers), and they always told me they heard me before they saw me when I had the aftermarket exhaust(s) installed.
Lots of people will say Bullsh-t to that, but I swear it's true. They'll say but exhaust is behind you, so people in front of you can't hear you until you've passed, etc. I call bullsh-t on that. Even my bro-in-law, who has a stock exhaust on his bike, says when I am BEHIND him, he can hear me back there, that he can't even hear his own bike.
