Seattle Motorcycle Show (no XR1200)
Attended the Seattle motorcycle show today. As usual H-D had a thorough display, including a test stand where a 103" Fatboy was setup for people to give it a run through. What was strangely missing in the lineup, was they had no XR1200 on display. That begs the question if once again America has rejected a "sporting" H-D, and sales are slumping?

Yeah, kind of strange. Considering the rise in popularity of European Street-Fighter bikes like the Ducati Monsters, HD should be putting a lot of R&D into updating/expanding the XR line...me thinks anyway.

They didn't have one at their display at the Long Beach show either, but they did have them available for test rides outside.

First off, let me clarify. I really like the XR's and I want one bad. But that being said, I would think yeah, another HD sporting bike being rejected. As much as I like the XR's, I never ever see any on the road, and I live in a motorcycle thick area. I think most people would just go to another brand if they want something "sporting". Pretty much any other brand does sporting better.

Good point. A Duck Monster 1100 EVO is about 140 lbs. lighter, packing 100 air-cooled hp. When one wants more performance and handling, it's not much more money to get it.
Pictures of the bike show? Just look at the online brochures.

They had XR1200X's at the NEC show in the UK last month. As you guys say, maybe it's a European thing again. I'm glad I've got one. It's a brilliant bike.

I was just at Wild Horse H-D in Bend, Oregon. A very well stocked line of bikes - but not one XR1200.
Does anyone happen to have 2011 XR1200 sales numbers for the U.S.?
