Ebay Steering Damper - Anyone Buy One Yet?
Hey everyone saw these on ebay and was thinking about picking one up on payday. Has anyone purchased one of these already? Was wondering about the build quality.

I'd spend my money on something name brand. There is no way to determine the quality without knowing the manufacturer.

I copy this review from BKrider site.
Strengths: Small and discreet, good range of motion so doesnt hit any part of the bike, doesnt look out of place so it looks great, easy to install, has a wide range of tension from simply turning the adjustment screw which allows very little damping to very high tension damping.
Weaknesses: Does not come in BLACK! Could use single spacers should have various sizes provided instead of just multiple washers. Slight moisture around bar as if there is a light leak. Not easy to tear down for rebuild for powder coating and/or maintenance. Unknown what tool is needed to remove end caps. Unknown fluid or seals to rebuild when necessary.
Summary: This little damper looks great on my 09 Dyna FXDF and was necessary as I installed an aftermarket fairing that weighs in over 30lb. The damper looks good but doesnt come in black, which is a negative for my blacked out Dyna. Although it can be powder coated it would be nice if it could be torn down easily, but that is not the case, seems a special tool is required for the end caps. BUT if torn down for powder coating or maintenance then the major issue arises of what fluid and seals to use as there is no documentation. BKRider.com is good enough to research it for me but regardless if you ever want to PC the unit at some point or not eventually the unit will need new fluid due to wear and tear or simply to refill if a slight amount is lost over time. Hence the need to know what tool is needed to tear down, what hydraulic fluid is correct and the right seals to prevent future leakage in order to maintain the unit. Overall though this damper works well, is small and affordably priced.

I have a daytona that I have had on my bike since 1995 and it still works great. That being said, the mount design is shizzz on the Daytona that I bought. You can see it flex and bend and I am surprised it did not break off long ago. I may order this because I prefer the position and design of the mounting system. I will have to see. Looks like a nice unit.

Mad I would normally agree with you but I doubt there is a single U.S. made variant of that part. You buy that same item locally and pay twice as much, more expensive does not make it better.

I got one from BKrider for the wife's Sporty trike but it didn't fit with the crash bar and at the time I was too lazy to modify it to make it fit. It looked well made and operated as stated. I can not comment on performance on the road.

I used to have a WP suspension steering damper on my racebike. It saved my a** a few times and was built to last.
