Default cam gears

really love my 77 xlh , very fun bike , my cam gear end play is front exhaust-.012 front intake-.029 rear intake-.024 , stopped there , had minimal rod wear on rear jug , connecting rod endplay was .010 , happy with that , dont feel any sideways play etc at the flywheels , i am thinking this cam end play needs attention am i right ? thinking i am i am also wondering about reaming bushings amongst debate i am thinking i want to ream my new wrist pin bushings and rocker bushings , some say thats a thing of the past with the manufacturers specs nowdays , i dont know . and if i got to tear it right down can i avoid any line reaming with a new gearcase cover already with bushings any feedback will be appreciated thanks

Read the Sticky threads on cam gear install etc for discussion of the shims. Some experts believe shims are unnecessary, others believe they are needed. Read and then decide for yourself.

There are 4 threads. Here is one of them ...

no cam shims apon re-assembly??
