Still no XR on the streets?
Wow, I have to admit I'm a bit discouraged.
It's now what, going on 15 MONTHS since the XR1200 was first announced and still there are no XR's on the street even in Europe yes?
And still no sign of a release here.
I felt kinda bad giving up on it back in October when an opportunity arose to buy another Guzzi and I took it, but still, the XR remains in my mind.
But I'm bordering on pessimistic at this point.

Kev look at this link. I received this from a dealer in Nashville.

They say in Spring '08 it will be available in Europe.

Well...I am interested in this bike, for the fun factor, but I am not super happy with the way it looks. I wish it looked like a real XR....pipes exit on the left etc.

Now I understand they've had some testing issues with brakes and exhaust, but still, over a YEAR!

Not to rehash the discussions we've had on the subject, but the thought is that the US has always been uhhh, somewhat slow to accept a SPORTing Harley (ala XLCR or Street Rod etc) AND the EU market has long favored more SPORTlike bikes, therefore they'd test the waters there...
...but to test the F'n waters they gotta actually deliver and sell some damn bikes.
I think they've really risked killing it because of how long it's taken them to follow through.

I haven't been able to find one in Europe. I have been checking out the UK site though so maybe it's just not in the UK? I have been hoping that once it's out in Europe I could at least get an idea on the specs such as fuel economy and power output. I know the European versions generally have less power than the American bikes, but I was hoping for at least an idea where the American one might be, if there ever was an American one.

Would be my next bike if they ever delivered. But I'm not going to get my hopes up.

The XR website ( www.xrdna.com) says that it will be available Spring 2008.
