I should have been more clear on the "wait". I'm in PA and could have legally walked out the door with it; however, they are backordered from an over-burdened factory.
I may get lucky and have it show up sooner.

Just thought this might have been of some help, looks like the .22 90 gr VLDs are the only ones that need a fast 1 in 7" twist... I know when I shot short range benchrest (100 & 200 yds.) most were shooting 1 in 14" twist, but 50-53gr. FB bullets...
http://www.bergerbullets.com/Product...20Bullets.html
I also know that most long range shooters, shooting 6 mm or 6.5s and others seem to favor the 8 twist Bbls... I know I did in both for (F-Class) 600 & 1,000 yds... I shot 107 VLDs in my 6 Dasher, and 142 VLDs in my 6.5x284...
I did on one occasion take my LV BR gun a 6PPC w/14 twist to a 500 yd. shoot in Chattanooga and shot 68 gr. FB bullets on a very still morning and shot a perfect 200-20X ... So don't think all short range guns won't shoot long range if conditions are right...
I think you will be very happy with the fast 8-9 twist for long range... One other thing, although I don't favor the 22 cals. for 1,000 yds., I do favor a tapered scope base to keep you in the sweet section of the scopes adjustments...
Have a good one...Tater...

You're probably right, xllnt, but I need to get my mitts on one first.
They have three different "packages". The only difference between the three is the foregrip. The gun shop said they will get different ones at different times. I don't care which one I get, but I have first option on whichever comes first.
I plan on using it for weekend afternoons with my boy. I'm not sure about putting optics on this one yet. Might leave it iron sights.
PA is a reasonably gun-friendly state, but they won't let us use semi-auto rifles to hunt anything. Not even squirrels with a 22. Home defense is covered otherwise, so this will be a fun gun and a learning course toward building others in the future.
Freakin' gun-junkie that I am, ordered a S&W 586 LComp while at the shop. I need another Smith 357 like I need another hole in the head, but she's sooooo sexy.

This is one of the few entry-level AR's I could find with 1 in 9 twist and no chrome-lining. I would have gotten a 1 in 7 twist without forum advice, and I would have been disappointed.
Thanks again.
