I really don't see how the .023 or the orientation of where the ports are positioned would make a big difference as long as they don't restrict the volume of oil that can travel around the undercut to get to the lifter ports.
But, all very good information to know.

Yeah, I'm going back with the JIMS. They were a bit louder but not enough to not use them. Going back to the stock lifters was more or less a test. The 585s are known to be loud cams. I'm pretty certain they are. I'm really hoping these HP Crush 600 cams are going to be quieter. Again, only one way to find out.

Yeah .0005" (5 tenths of a thousandth of an inch or 1/2 a thousandth) smaller. The lifter bores measured .8440" +or- .0001".

Good looking pistons, I'll be getting a set. I am curious if the sharp edge along the peak of the reverse dome will be prone to chipping or cracking (just from looking at it, I am no expert and am not giving any kind of educated assessment, just my layman first impression.) I'm sure that the forged pistons are very strong, and I imagine that the brunt of the pressure is focused within the dish.

Very very nice!!! I know it will be a slow and methodical reassembly. Do it right the first time! Looking forward to some progress pics.
