No because you can choose from a least six way of thinking.

1 = 20-50 dyno MA, cheap and reliable.

2 = 20-50 synthetic, durable and smooth shifting but can lead in glaze clutch plate if riden hard; drag and tire smoke show.

3 = 50 or 60 dyno MA, smoother but need warming in cold climate.

4 = 80-90 gear oil MA, very smooth plus excelent gear wear protection, can lead to clutch pack hard to disengage.

5 = ATF oil, hard on the gear but good performance on engaging and disengaging clutch.

6 = 50 dyno oil (BradPenn) Ma with ford differential liquid enhancer for positraction. Wow, no other way of describing it. The mix I use.

Make sure you choose yellow metal safe oil MA

I've been using B&M trickshift ATF

The semi-synthetic version felt (shift-feel) the same as the old sportstrans fluid.

The full-synthetic version felt better than the old sportstrans fluid.

Both seemed to have the same consistency as the old sportstrans fluid (not thick like gearoil)

I ran it in the primary of my 56' Triumph bobber.

Having seen the inside of the Mazda manual transmission on my old Ford Ranger (uses ATF), I recommend NOT using ATF.

When I run out of B&M trickshift I'll probably try dexron III-H.

It's used in my sister's manual transmission saturn vue. I figure if it can be used in a 3600lb car, it should be fine........

Might have to buy Dexron VI, just make sure it says it meets Dexron III-H specs on the bottle......

I've used Amsoil synthetic ATF in my Sportster since I bought it a year and a half ago, zero problems. I may try Type F on the next change, that stuff is grabbier.

ATF is engineered specifically for transmissions with wet clutches, and is also used in the majority of manual transmissions today. The indie that certified my bike thought I was nuts. Last business he sees from me.

Dexron III-H is preferred over Dexron VI for manual transmissions even if the VI bottle says it meets III specs.............

I've used Dexron in my Sporty for years.....it's designed perfectly for wet clutches.....and it's perfect for most manual gearboxes.....
