Default Need some parts/info/help for my bobber project

ok, So I'm rebuilding my '79 XLS. More like bobbing it. I really like the wheels of the Sportster 48 and was wondering if anyone knows where I can get some for a decent price. I like the fat "bubble" style. Also I need a good place to get a Bolt/weld on rigid as well as a springer front end that will take the size wheel I'm wanting. Lastly, I'm looking for a StreetBob style tank to replace my peanut tank so any leads as to where to get any of these parts would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Ride Safe, Lonnie

Check with the guys at Hammer In Hand. They have a bolt on hard tail for sportsters. Cant remember if it will fit on bikes as late as a 79 but worth checking out.

Thanks, I'll definitely look there, is there a web address? If I can't find one that will work or that I like I've also been considering replacing my springs with 10" Struts.

There are many places that sell different bolt/weld on hardtails like more "traditional" style or others such as "drop seat"...depends on what you are after. I would just look around at the various companies and see what they have that is cool with the style you are after. Good luck on your build.

Make sure you check how much the bolt on hard tail lowers and lengthens the bike too. Most add about 4 inches in length and lower a couple. You may have to get new brake lines to the rear as well.

Good luck and post some photos.

Yeah, I really don't want to stretch the bike anymore than it is. I do want to lower it at least a few inches, I'm kinda short (67 in.) and as of now I have to wear really thick soled boots just to touch the ground, haha. I'll post some pics of it how it is right now pretty soon. Thanks for those links Frisbee.
