Hello from Missouri City, Texas

After checking the place out for the past couple of days it is time for me to say Hello. My name is Ricardo Barnes and I have just finished rebuilding an 82 Ironhead. It had been sitting in New Hamphshire in a barn for some time and not being ridden. This machine came to me with only 27,000 miles. Since I began working on it I had to change the Super B carb to a Super E due to the Super B having been "worked on" by someone who was feeling his way in the dark. I tried very hard to make the Super B work right but never managed to repair the damage. I like the Super E just fine. Replaced the rear caliper with a GMA one because the OEM had been warped and the cylinders would not retract properly. The GMA took some teaking but it is working fine now. Changed the hand control to some newer HD ones that I had laying around from a previous build and this took some sorting out. The old ones had 7 wires and the new ones had 6, not to mentioned that the color matching was not the same. The mistery vanishing wire was a shared power wire from the blinkers and the kill switch that where spliced mid way in the loom.

The second owner of the bike took the electronic ignition module out and converted it to points. It is still a mystery to me which one is in the cone as there is only one wire going to the coil. I will look around in the forum to see is someone else is running a similar set up.

I am the 4th owner of the bike and it will probably stay with me from here on. Now that I have it running I will strip it down and send the frame and tins to the paint shop.

I have other bikes that I ride, but this Ironhead just begs to be ridden often. The other rides are a 03 Road King, 04 1200R Sportser, 05 Flyrite Bobber with a 96 S&S motor.
