Default won't start and no rear running lights

Hey hope somebody has an idea. I just put a new rear turn signal on rode the bike she was running fine and lights worked got home went to take off again noticed tht the light I replaced didn't turn on it did work when I hit the turn signal switch puled the plug and checked it with a meter had only abot .04 volts checked it again and the light on the other side just died changed both bulbs still nothing went to start it now bike won't even turn the starter I don't even get a clicking sound pulled the relay I get voltage coming into the relay when I hit the start switch so that's good front lights and brake light work and the fuel pump cylces when I switch it to run. I hope I didn't put in to much information but I thought themore the better. I hope somebody has an idea what's going on. Thanks

You left out some of the important information....what voltage did you get at the relay? Also check the battery voltage....you need to be at 12.7 volts.

First thing you need to do is make sure both battery cables are tight...needs to be tight with a wrench...not just "feels pretty tight" with your hand.

Secondly, you own a 07' sportster that have notorious water issues with the fuses / relay blocks. Remove all the fuses and check for corrosion....clean it off and add dielectric grease and reinstall. If there is corrosion on the relays...they need to be replaced.

Ok battery votage was 12.7. (Higher now left it on the charger last night). Voltage at the relays 12.7 at the power side and at switch side. Battery terminals and grounds are tight. Fuses and relays look good. I swaped the relays still dosen't crank. So I just jumped both the relays the bike cranks and gets fuel. Won't stay running though. Could I have fried both relays putting a meter on the rear turn signal plug because that's the only thing I did to the bike before the starting problem.

Besides rear turn signal have you done anything else to the bike?

Did you disconnect power to the bike before the replacement?

Do you have a brake/turn/run module? If you don't....your turn signals are only turn signals...there is no other running light or brake light.

If your fuel pump is priming that means your system relay is fine.

How long does the bike run for when you bypassed the relays?

Checking something with a multimeter should not do any harm to the bike's system.

I did not disconnect the battery before pulling the turn signal plug. I also did put new bars on recently but the bike sarted fine for a couple days after I chaged the bars. As for the type of lights I have they're just the regular turn signals. When I jump the relay bike is running for 10 min. Thanks for you help so far. I'm thinking that I might have a bad conection on the back side of the fuse block.I'm gonna try pulling it this afternoon
