Handlebar alternatives for a 2007 roadster
I just picked up a 2007 Roadster 1200 and am very excited to put some miles on it. I'm looking at those stock Buckhorn bars and am not real excited about the riding position.
My question is twofold – I would like a bar that is comfortable but is also stylish. Lastly, I do not want to change the stock cables and brake hoses if not necessary.
I am 6 foot tall with a 34 inch inseam and 34 inch sleeve length. I prefer a more upright, standard riding style as opposed to bent over with café bars or, alternatively, with my my arms hanging from ape hangers. I don't think either of those would work for me.
I checked out some of the other threads and they seem to show a lot of bikes with Nightster bars, which looked pretty cool. Does anyone know if these bars would work on a stock roadster without modifications?
Are there any other bars you all have used that you could also recommend. I'm not opposed to installing risers if that is necessary, as long as it still works with the stock cables.
Thanks a lot for your help in advance.

buckhorn bars on a 2007R? Maybe you and I have a very different definition of what buckhorn bars are.

those are not stock 1200R bars. Those I would call buckhorns.
1200R bars are much lower.
Its hard to see but this bike is a 2007 1200R with stock bars:
They are only about as high as the top of the gauges.

Now those look nice.
How is that riding position for you? Are you very bent over forward? How would short risers change that?
I have a 34 inch sleeve. Is that about your size?

I love the riding position without use of any risers and I think we are similarly built

Thanks, I will try to locate a bike with stock bars and give it a try. I imagine the stock bars are pretty easy to find.
Who knows, maybe I can find someone who wants to trade for the buck horns. LOL
