Default How much does my bike weigh?

Hey guys,
Does anyone know about how much an ironhead weighs? My manual gives about every spec you would want except that. I'm just curious. The new sportsters weigh in around 560 or more.
Oh and I do mean a relitivly stock bike of course. Mines a '70 883.

If it is a '70........They call them a 900......They call EVO's 883.

I'm guessing around 450 lbs. DRY.

This is an estimate.

From my new Haynes manual:
1970 thru 1978: not specified
1979 thru 1981:
XLH - 522 lbs
XLCH - 513 lbs
XLS - 527 lbs

The rest up to 1985 vary from 468 for 1985/85 XLX to 525 for 1982 XLS

Call it 500 lbs i guess.

So could say a Sportster with rider on board is about a third of a ton.

I was just listening to the price of Gold now at $924 per Troy ounce and thinking if my Sportster was pure gold it would be worth a little over 7,000,000.00 US dollars.
It is quite a difference from the price of good old Iron.

Cheers;
