Default stop press -flatheads are back!

looks like flathead 45 may be right when he said overhead valves are a passing phase
gas gas (from spain) are producing a side valve unit for their trail bikes to combat weight and a high centre of gravity, they claim 22 bhp for the engine that will rev to 10000 rpm!(and you lot thought harley were the experts on devolution)

you ever rode a kr flat tracker?? 45 flat head and FAST > no brakes would out run a bsa or most of the english bikes. We had one out of our shop as a hill climber and a scrambler. easy to tune and set up. and gear up or down . cu gar

Wow! Sounds like the Spaniards are trying to catch up. The original 1940's HD WLA's made 24 BHP but at about half that RPM.
Hmmm.. now imagine if they were to EFI it as well?

There was a company until recently called 'Flathead Power'. They were recently acquired by S&S. They're making flathead motors and knucklehead motors. Much bigger tho.. you can get a 120" stroked knucklehead....

I don't think they're making anything under 74".
