Ticketed while traveling out of state?
This might get moved, but I couldn't really find a more specific section to file it under...
Have any of you gotten ticketed while traveling out of state for having after-market mods done--pipes, a/c, etc.? For noise? Speeding and helmets I can understand, so I'm not really interested in that. I'm curious as I'm planning a trip in May from Colorado to Seattle, Washington (and other places, eventually), and I was curious if any of you have ever been busted for modding, EPA violations, noise, blah blah blah. Or random harassment? Got stories to tell?

I got pulled over once for not having front turn signals(my state doesnt require them), and he also said the ehxaust seem to be a tad loud whatever.. but since i was outta state-er , and my tags were from my home state and my home of record/license is the same as my tags, i dont think he could do much.
I usally reseach the states ill be going thru, and see how there policys are and I have print out of the states and there "laws"
Edit heres a site where i get most of my info: http://www.ama-cycle.org/legisltn/laws.asp

Never had any problems with my V&H straightshots. Arkansas, where I did live, had no helmet law, but I personally think it's stupid to ride without one, yea when I was younger and lived in Texas, I thought it was cool, but got smarter. I drove across Louisana, Mississippi and into Alabama and back, like a bat out of hell. The only reason I didn't get a speeding ticket is I wasn't caught. If the had caught me coming into Birmingham on the way back to Arkansas, they would have probably taken me to jail as I was doing 100 to 105.
Stuck in Kuwait without my Sportster

I got pulled over in Michigan for doing 5 mph over the limit! He actually wrote the ticket too!
This was the only ticket that I've gotten, and I'm grateful for the ones I didn't get but really deserved.

Been lucky I guess, knock on wood, haven't had anything since I got the sporty. Back in the day of Suzukis, I got speeding tickets a few times.

I live pretty close to Tennessee, which has a headlight-on law. My bike's old enough to have a 3-position key switch, so I can ride with the lights off. I always have to remember to turn them on when I cross the state line. I've never been stopped in another state for an equipment violation, though (I don't have turn signals or stock mufflers, either).

If it ain't broke, don't fix it (especially if you don't know what you're doing). Most Sportster problems are owner-induced.

And what about handlebars--apes too high, that sort of thing? I guess I'm either trying to be prepared or I'm paranoid. I just like to know what I might be getting myself into before I get there. Thanks for the posts thus far. Good info.
