Default 2inch tank raise..fuel

i've only read 2 or 3 comments on if you "loose" any fuel by doing a 2 inch tank lift. i have a 08 nightster...anyone know?

Unless your petcock is at the lower end of the tank, you will lose fuel capacity.

I raised mine 2". I lost 1 gallon of usable gas.

If you only raise the front then yes, if you raise the whole thing it won't make a difference.

If you do raise just the front and still want to use all of the tank, cut off the petcock, weld the hole shut and cut a new hole in the back of the bottom or the lowest point of the tank.

I usually fill up at 100 miles. I'll get over 100 miles before I ever need to hit reserve I'd have to guesstimate about 115 miles at reserve on average...although I do drive in the higher RPM band because of my powerband and reversion from the Cycleshack slip ons, but I'm driving highway 75% of the time. I don't know how that factors in with how much capacity is lost, as there is a little lost. I don't know what is lost from my reserve, but I think that's where it would be most noticable. Additionally, on my bike not only is the tank angled back from a 1 3/4 lift, but my front end, and therefore tank angle, is up more than stock because of the +6 forks.
