Take a hammer and smack the end of the torx head. That should help seat it onto the head. If it does not work, smack it again.

Make sure you're using the correct size of Torx bit, which is a T27. A T25 will fit in the screw, but is likely to strip it out.

I don't know if they still make them, but I used to have a hand held impact driver which you smack with a hammer. Worked good with phillips screws, don't know if it will works with Torx. Maybe a screw extractor will be needed. I see TV advertistments for a set that comes with a drill and an easy out matched set.

They still make them. If you have a decent torx bit it should work good. Mine does.

Just went through this last fall. Two of the four screws would not come out. Use an impact driver. If that does not work, try a small propane torch. I heated up the areas around the screws (on the case, not so much the cover or screw) then used the impact driver. It took about 20 minutes per screw to heat up and remove. I went in stages, trying to apply heat, let it soak, apply heat, soak, then try the impact. I was trying to minimize excessive heat and burn or tarnish the alum.
It took awhile, but we finally got them out. Just a dab (a small dab) of loctite this time!!

As above, hit the end to get it to seat all the way, I still managed to strip one and used a reverse drill bit thing to get it out. I replaced all the torx with allen cuz i like them more

Yeah, when you do get them all out, replace with stainless or chrome Allen (hex) screws. I hate Torx heads, they always feel like the driver is about to twist round and wreck the head.

I don't use any thread lock on mine, just a bit of copper grease to (hopefully!) stop 'em seizing. They've never worked loose yet.

Last year I had this problem with five of the derby screws. I ended up just cutting a slot in each screw head with my Dremel tool and a cut off wheel. After the slot was made I simply used a slotted screwdriver and took them out. They were stripped anyway so cutting the slot really didn't make them any worse then they were already.
