Default Man! I almost hit the 50K mark but the time is right

I made a deal with the devil. Tomorrow I turn in my 04 XL1200R with nearly 49,000 miles as a trade for a new 08 Super Glide. I'm sticking around XLF since I consider the Super Glide just a big Sportster. Getting $4000 for the trade in.

I'd say that's a pretty good trade value, considering it's a dealership and with 49k on it. That sounds awesome. congrats!

Yeah I expected around 3K for the trade in considering the mileage but 4K is even better. Now I've been having 2nd thoughts. I'm going to miss my XL as I've become one with it. My XL has taking me everywhere from highways to offroad mud-bogging trails. I even had it airborne a few times. Trading it in + a whole bunch of cash to get a new shiny bike is disturbing to me. I'm excited and cant wait to get on the dyna but I would rather have a used bike that I wouldnt feel guilty thrashing. Time to grow up and ride gingerly I guess. Its not too late to cancel if anything. I have until this evening (or tomorrow) to decide.

Done deal. Dropped off the XL this morning and drove home on a new 08 FXD. Didn't have much time today but the short 12 mile ride home was enough for a great first impression. Very nice and very smooth. Tomorrow morning I'll have a couple of hours for breaking-in the engine (motoman style)

Road the new bike this morning for a little break-in routine. Got home and changed the oil/filter with 75 miles on the ODO. Yes, there was plenty of metal in the oil already.

Nice bike. I have always like the style of the fxd plain and simple.

A lot of miles you did, a lot of memories too I'm sure, enjoy that new bike and don't forget to stop in here at the forum from time to time.
