Default 72' ironhead. how do i remove the swingarm?

i dont have a manual yet so im in the dark. i dont want to do anything stupid so i thought id ask.

i removed the bolt that runs through the center, but the swingarm wont come off. do I need to do something else, or just big boy it off?

thanks

If the center bolt is out, the swingarm should come off. It's a pretty tight fit to the frame, but you should be able to tap it off.

WD40.

Get a jimmy bar up between the cross piece on the swingarm and the frame. Use abit of wood so the bar does not scar the frame.

Make sure the nut on the left hand side is not jammed in the slot in the back of the primary cover. With the back shocks off, jiggle swingarm up and down to free up that nut. The nut has kind of a raised piece about 3/8 wide that engages in the slot in the primary cover.

Good point. You need to pull the swing arm straight back if the motor is still in the frame.

That nut just set's the load on the bearing. If the engine is still on the frame you will have to pry it off. Try some WD40 and let it soak for awhile and then maybe heat the frame with a heat gun and try to get a pinch bar in there to get it started. It's like a babe and just being difficult.
