Default Gas Tank Crooked

I don't know why it's taken me so long to ask this, but here it goes.

I have a 2004 1200R, and the tank almost looks like it's on the nike crooked. The fuel cap doesn't seem to be in line with the center of the bike - it's sits a little off to the side. I only notice this when I'm sitting on it, not while I'm off it and looking at it, but I also haven't really tried to look yet.

Is it actually crooked? If so, is it adjustable?

It is not adustable!

Welcome to the fine world of Harley Davidson! My 97 1200s came from the factory with the tank cocked to the right about a 1/4". Has been that way ever since. Did you expect an accurately made bike from HD MoCo?

Ya right! they haven't built a bike that hasn't had something off centre in their entire history. Check the level on the rear turn signal lights on Heritage next time you get close to one. As a matter of a fact just look real close to any Harley that you find.

Don't worry about it. The dealer won't either and the factory sure doesn't.

Tell the stealer to fix it. That is what the warranty is for. If it is not in warranty it is nothing a large amllet won't fix. A couple of whacks and it will be straight. Just move the tabs in the direction they need to go.

Hey take a close look at the rear mounting tab on your seat. It is off set about 1/8 of an inch. This will give you something else to complain about when you take her back to the dealer.
