Default Where to get parts?

I've been looking for a set of rings and possibly a cylinder for my 70' Ironhead 900cc. My Local Harley dealer can get the rings but the price is insane. Ebay rarley has parts for my motor. If anybody knows of a place where I can buy parts for a 70' ironhead please let me know. thanks.

Lots of stuff available from your local 'Independent' Bike Shop.....most of these shops have lots of 900/1000 XL parts laying around their place. A 900 cylinder should be pretty easy to come up with.

Go on line to www.jpcycles.com check out the general site and their Vintage site. I've bought from them and they've been ok to me.

You can also get on E'bay and do a search of whats being sold under Sportster parts. I've seen 900 cylinders on there pretty often.

I live in MO, above KC. I heard of a place down off I70 that is a bike graveyard. Cycle Re-cylers I think it's called. Have to dig around but may be of some help. I haven't been there yet but a guy tells me they have everything. I haven't checked on the netif they have a sight. It's down the road from Powell Gardens out side of KC if that is of any help.

Thumbs up

The Dec 2004 American Iron has an excellent article on rebuilding ironhead XL engines. Some referrals there for parts. Some excellent advice for the various year ranges. Too much to type in here.

I am rebuilding a '74 sportster and have had great sucess with cyborgcycle. They are an online company that has great prices and hard to find stuff. They mostly go through V-Twin, Drag specialties. They seem to use the same dealers as my local H-D dealer but much cheaper.

I have found JP to be the best bet in my LIMITED experience so far. The number is:

800 397 4844

If you have Ironhead questions, ask for Doug in Tech support. Great knowledge, and has owned a couple of Ironheads in the past. Rides a pan now I think.

you might also try Drag specialties, Custom Chrome, and Sporty specialties. Some body brought up Zoom Cycle too. Hopefully you'll find what you need.
