Sportster wiring guru needed!
I have a 1999 883 sportster engine that I am using for a custom project and I have the bike finished except I am not getting the spark I need at the coil. I have a really bare bones wiring harness, maybe to trimmed down. I have a direct start button mounted to my starter/solenoid. A headlight, tail light to a toggle switch(two position 3 pole - + Acc.) I am also running a voes switch that I have wired to ground and the purple/white wire on the ignition module, the other wires coming off of the ign mod are the white/black to one side of coil and to power, and the pink wire to the other side of coil. and then of course the ground. I am not using the green bank angle sensor wire. I also have the volt reg wired to the toggle switch. OK. with the plugs removed and swithches on I hold the connected sparkplug to the cylinder and get one spark when I first push the direct start button and then it just turns over without any spark after that. I let the button out and repeat and get that first spark and it quits again. I know this is probably confusing but that is the best i can explain it and all responses are appreciated.
Thanks
Ross

Typical symptoms of the BAS.
Bank angle sensor needs to be there.
I have heard of people just grounding that wire but on mine I found that to be untrue.
If you do have to run a BAS you can cut the top off of it, glue the ball down to the bottom and pack it tight. Glue the top back on and you have defeated the BAS and it can be mounted anywhere.
BTW I did get rid of mine by changing to Crane Hi-4 single fire ignition.

I have the old wiring harness that seems to be complete I will have to look for the bank angle sensor and try to rig it up. Thanks!

I'm not sure if you mean "of course the pink also goes to gnd" or u mean, "of course the gnd from the mod is connected to gnd". If the pink also goes to ground that is a problem. Basically for a spark you need one siode of the coil tied to 12 volts and the other to the output of the module. The module output will pull down to gnd when a spark is needed. You can test this with a wire and 33uf capacitor. "DO NOT pull down the low side by grounding it with a wire without the cap. or you will damage the ign. module" . I'm at work doing this from memory and I'm old so....
