Default Extending indents on bars

I chopped 1 1/2" off the end of some bars and now, of course, the indents for the cables are too short.

Anyone had any luck making a neat job of making indents longer or can suggest another solution?

The indents aren't an easy job. I think most guys cut an elongated hole and deburr carefully.

Isn't it fun to start a new project, then find out the unintended consequences?

Or do another hole in the centre and hide the wires completely.

That had occured to me but I was unsure whether that means cutting the wires to get them through and with the frequency I change bars that could be real pain.
