1250>883 with Stock...
...cams, heads, ignition etc...?
Hey Dan (and ?) I noticed that on your site you have a dyno readout for a "stock" based 1250. My question is can you do the 883>1250 with stock everything, then upgrade as you go.
My '05 883L will only have "Gronk Mod" mufflers and your 2" centered A/C and I am thinking of doing this, my biggest concern is the stock ignition.
Also the biggest reason I choose a 883L was the natural/silver cases, jugs and heads. To keep the look closest to stock would I use the natrual or silver powder coated kit???
Thanks for your valuable time....looking forward to being a customer.
Scott

Not Nhrs but your stock ignition is fine. That would be one of the last places I would spend money. The 1250 kit will give you the biggest bang for your buck by far. Now wait and I am sure they will answer.

These are in chronological order, with the most recent configurations on top. Done on a 2004 XL883.
Kinda messed up because there was a change in the pipe and cams I was using that I did midstream. The E cams were too noisy and the CS pipes were reverting in the middle. It really changed the powerband as you can see.

I am having problems navigating on your site. I tried going into the Products link so I could look at all the products you have listed in the dyno sheet. I was looking for the HSR42 and Twin Tec in particular. I am familier with the rest enough to figure them out. I am also curious how much more power you would get with head off of a 1200, Buel or your perfomance heads compared to the 883 heads. I don't plan on having work done on my heads as I figure by the time I get the work done and the cost I would probably get the same or close to the same from stock Buel or 1200 heads. I have an 04 XL883 by the way.

if i may add, your looking at numbers. you need to feel a 1250 to believe the difference. from a 883. i thought my 883 was quick now it feels like a monster with no head work just cams.

Everything depends on the total of your components. Cams will not give more power if your heads can't flow. That is why we say do not install cams if you have stock 883 heads as they will be a waste. Now do some headwork or install better heads then cams help out tremendously.
Same thing with the ignition. If you don't have cams and heads that can make power in higher rpm ranges then an ignition will not be of much use.

Dan, do you have a similar graph comparing a plain 883 > 1212 conversion? (and maybe the more extensive conversions too)

Thanks anyway. That is some drastic horsepower increases you've got going there.
