I like the round A/C that I saw on somebody's bike here...

Can anyone tell me about them?

It's SE part# 29008-90a which is getting hard to find because they have been disco'd. Just get a head breather kit and a round ac cover and your good to go.
Arlen Ness and Doherty machine will also have a couple out soon as well.

By the time I send it to you and add the postage on you probably coulda bought one new over there
You would have to use some form of bracket to hold it anyway.......
and they'll fit ALL sporties and big twins with the right bracket......
Ya just need the seperate breathers, which is not a bad thing anyway.

Cantolina I'll be setting up my bike with the round one as soon as the breather kit gets here.
Turbota has the same one on his bike and he gave me the parts list. I called chicago harley, hales, and several other HD dealers but nobody had the ac kit in stock. Last week I was able to get one on ebay brand new in the box though.
Here's the part #'s Bota gave me. I don't know if anything would be different on your 02'.

round air cleaner installed on 2004 XL883
There are so many threads about this round air cleaner, but I chose this one to post my install experience. First, the install technically should be easy. I bought all the parts listed in my previous post. One major problem I ran into was, the carb support brace holes would not properly line up with the breather. With the right tools I could probably open up the hole on one side of the support brace in order to fit the breather bolt in, but I don't have a vice so I couldn't drill the hole bigger, and I don't have a dremel tool which might also work.
But, I did find out that you can mount this thing with the L brackets that come with the breather kit. The only thing you need to do is add a couple of more washers to each side to make up for the thickness of the now missing carb support bracket. Then the L brackets will bolt right up to the backing plate that comes with the air cleaner kit. It's a nice fit this way so I do believe that if you buy the same parts I did you can omit the carb support brace.
As far as the hose goes, I chose to route that into a small filter. I still have to find a place to bolt it down, but I didn't like the idea of routing the tube under my bike and have the possibility of oil drops on my back tire or the underside of the bike. I haven't decided on a cover yet, but am leaning toward something chrome.

Nice job, Xena! I will be joining the round A/C club whenever Ness starts shipping the new Suckers. Are those cable covers on your sparking plug wires or did you replace your wires as well?
