Default Need a part identified so I can replace it.

Well, I'm an idiot. A co worker wanted to learn how to ride and buy my 91 Sportster. Yup, he smacked it into a parked car and bent the rear brake pedal and broke the casing that the pedal goes into. I blame myself for being a total idiot. Anyway it looks like all I need is the engine casing but don't really know what to call it. I looked through the manual I have and could not find it.

Can anyone tell me what this is or even better does anyone have one?

Thanks, John...

It is called a "sprocket cover". Look in the manual for rear master cylinder removal. It is mentioned there. Check ebay.

Pretty much a chain/sprocket guard...lots of people take'em off anyway...probably find one on e-bay for under15...or someone here has an extra...its not even listed in my parts catalog...which is weird

I have one that I just bought for $25.00 + shipping. Not gonna use it.

If you want it (for $25+ship) , PM me. It's in great shape.

I'll get you a total cost...

Russ, thanks for the offer and everyone else for the quick replies.

Is this thing as easy to replace as it looks? I don't have the HD manual but the other one (begins with a C, it's at work). The pedal still seems to work as does the master cylinder and the rear brake. So I think it is just remove the pedal & master cylinder and then the sprocket cover. I'll re read the manual tomorrow and ask some questions from there. Thanks again....

Russ, I can't find a PM button on this thing but am interested. Could you send me an email?

photoman@grizznet.com

I can reply to that. Thanks again.

You have three cap screws and the two screws that hold the mastercylinder on. It should take you about five minutes to change. You need a small cotter pin for the bolt that holds the foot peg on
