Default 10000 mile Service

Well I decided to go by the factory manuals on my 10000 mile inspection, but I noticed after punching my vin mumber at the Harley site,I saw that they have added "steering head bearings and adjust " at the 10000 mile instead of the 15000 as in my 2005 xl manual.
During this inspection I wanted to remove my primary cover to check a couple of items that some here have posted about...namely the nut on the engine sprocket...it was tight and after nosing around I also noticed the starter bolts. I think it is BS in order to get to the starter bolts if I ever need to replace it. Anyway I am going to replace the chain adjuster since the plastic is worn somewhat...
I also found the front motor bottom a little too loose in my book...again...some more helpful info I have found on this forum...and what to double check...thanks all
Im not done yet,I planning on a sundowner seat, new grips, and foot pegs....
now Im off to review my hog videos on steering head bearings lubrication.....why couldnt they have left that zirch fiiting in there?? O well

The Service Manual calls for it at 20K miles, not 15K, and the Owner's Manual and HD online call for it at 10K. I called them on this, and 20K is correct for 04+ (and for some years before that too.)

If they did, you'd be filling the frame with grease!

I don't think you need to lube the steering head bearings at 10K and HD doesn't call for it.

This thread was pretty good, and Kev M posted something about steering head bearing service in this thread (reply #28) and in another thread.
