Anyone Need AR15 Help/Assistance.....
Someone here may decide in these last few months (Before the "Obama Ban") to Build an AR Type Rifle or Pistol. If you want some help Choosing Parts, Building or choosing a Complete Firearm, post your thoughts. I'll do my best to help you sort it out.

SGO, you're awesome for the offer.
I'm looking to buy now but I've already gone down the 7.62 x 39 road....

Yes!!!
Thanks for the offer! I just got a couple cheap DPMS stripped lower recievers locally and will be building a couple rifles as soon as I can when money will allow. I have been looking at the different part houses (model 1, Del Ton, J&T, etc) and spending time at the AR 15 forum again for some brush up stuff. I'm pretty sure I can put it all together without much problems but there are many choices out there with parts and such I could use help with....Over a year back I had enough money for one of the more expensive Rock River Arms AR's and a couple thousand rounds of ammo. I was just about ready to go lay my money down on one when I found my sportster, and my way here to the forum. NOW is the time to get the AR put together. I'll sure can use any help I can get getting it together. Thanks....Steve.

Very cool idea, and I have always wanted an AR, but too many bikes right now...

Thanx AOW. I have an AK also. But AR's are my thing. Best of Luck finding some great deals.
steveb71: I'm at the AR15 Forum too. SpecOps-13 There. DPMS has some very nice Stuff. I don't really like their Parts Kits for Lowers but they do work.
Try Brownell's and Midway. Their prices are discounted for me which doesn't help you, but you may find something you have to have there. Customer Service is very good at both. I have been having them ship via USPS Priority. Takes 2 or 3 work days normally on "IN Stock" items. Putting an AR together isn't Rocket Science but it can be a pain in the Butt. Especially without the right tools. If you have any Questions, I'll try to check back on this thread from time to time. Or, PM me. Good Luck

Whats your opinion on the shaved front sights??
Ive heard there are problems with the gas blocks using set screws rather than rivets.

I had one come loose, the original manufacturer (of complete upper w/gas block) forgot to Loc-tite the set screws and it came apart after a few hundred rounds.
A couple drops and turns of an allen wrench, and it's been trouble free.

+1 on coming loose. When it may be used for Life or Death, I like things that stay where they're put. Tapered Pins don't move.

I would like to add that when Tapered Pins DO move, you have bigger problems on your hands.
I can assist with anyone's builds as well if you are looking for feedback on how to build your battle rifle.
Just having a gas block move slightly can cause problems with the action getting enough gas to cycle the weapon. This is why, unless you are equipped with the right tools, it is best to leave the Upper assembly to a pro.
I am on other boards with the same screename as well.
