New Ironhead owner
Well, I've finally got my hands on a sportster! I joined these forums back in '06 when I was planning on picking one up then, but it never happened.
Just last week, I managed to secure a 1983 XLX.
Just wanted to introduce myself, and say that I've already learned a TON of stuff from these forums about these ol' ironheads.

Hello from another '83 XLX owner. Looks like you scored a very sharp bike! Whoever customized it did a good job (except, maybe the orange air cleaner... ). Enjoy the trip.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it (especially if you don't know what you're doing). Most Sportster problems are owner-induced.

I'm not a big fan of that rear fender or those tanks on the Sporty, but, that one really pulls it off. Very nice ride. Congratulations!
