Well, I've finally got my hands on a sportster! I joined these forums back in '06 when I was planning on picking one up then, but it never happened.

Just last week, I managed to secure a 1983 XLX.

Just wanted to introduce myself, and say that I've already learned a TON of stuff from these forums about these ol' ironheads.

Hello from another '83 XLX owner. Looks like you scored a very sharp bike! Whoever customized it did a good job (except, maybe the orange air cleaner...). Enjoy the trip.

I'm not a big fan of that rear fender or those tanks on the Sporty, but, that one really pulls it off. Very nice ride. Congratulations!
