MoCo Extends Trade-In Deadline
The MoCo has extended the trade-in deadline from the end of February through March 31. That will give some of us more time who were caught off guard to check out the new Harley colors that don't come out 'till March 1st, etc.

Dang it.... Why did you have to tell us? I can't afford it now, but if my car sells, I'll definitely consider a vivid black FatBob.

Says it's gotta be a stock bike so mine wouldn't qualify. Besides, I kinda resent the implication that a Sporty is just a starter bike, sorta training wheels, until you're ready for a BT.

Wonder if they will broaden theplaying field to include older models, like back to 04?

It doesn't have to be stock. I had a Stage 1, different seat and shocks, and no one said anything when I traded mine. Hell, I even had a dent on my rear fender!
I have a feeling that this promo is going to be like the financing deal they had on Sporties when I bought mine. It was only supposed to go for about six months, but as far as I know they're still doing it.
I'm beginning to wonder how much the MoCo is responsible for the Sporty being viewed as a "starter bike." I think riders are playing a big role in that. The MoCo is big on after-purchase surveying. They've gotta be getting some sort of feedback that reinforces that opinion.

You have to have bought your Sporty between Dec 26th and March 31th.
Then you have a YEAR to decide to trade it in.
I bought mine on the 27th

The consumer ("purchaser") must purchase a new previously untitled MY 2008 or 2009 Sportster 883 or 1200, excluding XR1200, ("qualifying new motorcycle") between December 26, 2008 and March 31, 2009 ("offer period").

The trade-in must occur no later than one year after the date of purchase

I think Harley is making a ton of money on this deal. Especially from the people that are financing there new BT through "Harley Davidson Credit".

That's ONE of the deals, the other is for owners of 07, 08 or 09 Sportys who WERE owners as off Dec 26th, they don't have a year - they only have until 3/31 (at least according to this update).

I have tried this at two different locations, if you finance the sporty you will not be able to take advantage of this offer. All will be tacked on the backend of total price. Example, the rocker c I want costs 20,000 giving them my 2008 xl883c will cost me 31,000 after 84 months. I hope there will be change in the new administration. I understand dealers need to make a profit but let us all downsize and work together so we can survive and ride together in extreme times.

BINGO!!
Glad my bike has been long paid for...
In this tough economic times a huge $$ 20 + 25 K payment would be detrimental to my well being, and i'm sure those
who got caught up in this extended offer will sure feel the pinch not too far down the road..
Good Luck to those who foolishly buy any luxery items right now!!
