TC88a PC cable needed
I am in the middle of an NRHS 1250 conversion. I am adding a Daytona Twin-Tec TC88a ignition. What I would like to do is add Turbota's custom settings but I sure hate to give $80 bucks for a PC link cable. No one in my area that i'm aware of has this ignition much less the cable. Just curious if any of the fine folks on this forum would be interested in renting me one. If anyone is interested I will just need it for a short time and when I return it I will send you a check for what it cost you to ship plus I will add $20. Please send me a PM if you could help. Cant wait to get my bike up and running. Thanks a million.

For those of you who have one, what makes it special? Can we make our own?

A few people on here have tried but so far no success but I'm not an electronics geek so I couln't tell you why. If I remember right there was some proprietary IC built in it's not just wires and connectors.

If someone sent me one, I could duplicate it. That's what I do.

It's not just a USB cable. There's a little box in the middle of it that must have some type of circuitry inside. It's even got a switch built into the cable to set it for a couple different types of ignition modules. I was able to borrow one, and am very appreciative of that. $80 for a USB cable is pretty steep... but... if you buy one, you won't regret it. Turbota's MAP kicks butt!

Interesting. I had no idea there was a way to copy a proprietary IC. Goes to show what I know about computer hardware. Is there some kind of "reader" to copy the architecture or something? Wouldn't that be illegal, ala copyright infringement ?

Based on a several references in the installation instructions for the USB cable it is apparent that the IC on the USB cable is just USB to RS232 bridge chip. You can pick up a USB to RS232 cable that has the bridge chip embedded in it on ebay for under $10. Then to just need to build a RS232 to deutsch data link cable.
