for $88 Harley has a light assy that replaces the sealed beam and fits into your stock headlight bucket perfectly.....it uses the H4 halogen and can be upgraded to even better and brighter bulbs..... but you gotta get rid of the sealed beam bulb first....

That's kinda where I was gonna go.

Personally I was wondering about the late-model clear-optic headlight (introduced on the Sporty in 05). Is that backwards compatible to the buckets on the solidmounts?

I changed mine to a Tribar reflector with clear lens and a Sylvania Silver Star H4 and it made much more light. In fact I changed my wifes Honda Rebel and put a Silver Star in it also, again much better.

Dude, where'd you source the parts for the Rebel, my buddies wife has one and I think he'd love to upgrade her headlight... (hey that sounded kinda funny).

Rascal, how have they held up for ya. I've red a lot of posts over the years that they burn out too quickly.

Kev:

I just changed the bulb in the Rebel, the headlite bucket doesn't have enough room to change the Light assm, so I just tried a Silver Star in it and it's a whole lot better than the OEM light.

And Kev I have had the Silver Stars in both bikes for about a year now, when I got them they were made expecially for bikes, don't know if they are still available.

Cool on both counts - thanks!

I've had mine in for a while with no problems.. The last one to burn out was from a short.. not the bulbs problem

Another thing to consider...

The Adjure Diamond light..

I got mine for $55.00 and it works great..MAJOR improvement over the stock bulb assembly..

You just got to bend the tabs of the bulb to right angles to fit into the bucket.. but not a problem since.
