turn signals
i picked up an 1200 c 1997 i traded my 883 for it but the turn signals wont cancel got my manual out but dont see anything but a turn signal module all the lights work and the flashers too the signals just dont turn off & how hard is it to replace the high beam indicator light it looks like i have to remove the bars & speedo and tach to get at the wireing to replace the bulb it sounds like i have a bad ground or the signal module is bad ?

don't know if this may help but my friend who has a sporty was having a problem with his module turning the signals off to soon and he was told to cut a wire coming out of the module that would make the signals stay on until he hit the turn signal switch again. Check the module and maybee see if one of the wires are cut. I know he got that info off of here so maybee whoever gave him that info will see this thread and be able to say which wire it was.

Sometimes the people that are on when you first post may not know an answer... especially electrical stuff, which I think is pretty hard to figure out anyways.
Don't get frustrated or take it personally, just have a little patience with the posts.
I hope you can get it worked out!

Replacing the indicator bulbs on my 1200C is a piece of cake. I'm not real familiar with the 97. Do you have a riser? All my stuff was accessible by taking the riser cover off. I'm not sure just a bad ground would make the canceller not work though.

There is a white/green wire that sends a signal from the speedometer to the turn signal module. This tells the module how far the bike has traveled since the turn signal has been turned on, and after a certain distance, it should cancil the turn signal.

some time the module is just screw up & has to be replaced & as for the light it should take about 7 to 10 min to change so if your dealer does it there should be about half hour shop charge & if they are half decent thay should replace the light for free & check the mod before the would replace it
