Default How Does An Air-Shifter Work?

How does an air shifter work on a drag bike?

Does the transmission or clutch need to be modified?

Thanks!

It can get a little more involved than that, But that works. My buddy has a drag bike and his shifter is a simple button and he never lets off the throttle.

When the button is hit there is a timer that kills the ignition for a milli-second just as the air solenoid fires the air cylinder and pulls the shifter.

sounds about right...has a little pump simular to that on an airhorn...push the shift up botton air pressure moves the actuator moving your shifter shaft at the same time kills the ignition for a split second...no need to let of the throttle..

and yes you can do the same thing with your foot..powershifting...
