Default 2006 XL Custom and Harness Saddlesbags

Does anyone have a picture of the '04-'06 XL Custom with the harness
saddlebags?

I'm trying to have them installed and it looks like the rear lights should
go on last hole of the fender strut but my dealer (non-harley) is telling
me that they can't.

I would love to find a picture of how it should look and if anyone has done
this what I would need to do it.

Thanks.

The rear turn signals on 06 XL custom cannot be relocated to the rear strut bolt using the stock signal standoff. You will need to get a relocation kit that moves the signals to the tag bracket or elswhere. You could get creative and get a mount under the read brake light, get some aftermarket lights that will mount to the last hole or almost anything.

I think the relocation of the turn signals further back on the fender strut was something that could only be done on the pre '04 bikes. Options on the '04+ bikes are like capttawes says. I fitted a turn signal bar meant for a Softail or Touring bike:

# 68615-04 / 68617-04.

Thanks for the replies. I'm still a bit confused. If you look at the picture of the saddlebags on P. 91 of the 2007 HD Catalog it shows the lights on the last hole of the strut (I think the last hole), but the lights are clearly not on a license plate mount.

Do you think it's just an outdated picture?

I bought the HD layback lic. and turn signal relocation kit. About $90. Gets them out of your way and looks better than stock.

The pic. in the catalog states "shown on 03 model" and all the bags pictured are on the same 03 bike which allowed remounting of the signal to the last bolt on the strut. That kit which was used on the the 94-03 models was also the same I believe for the softails but I doubt it could be adapted to fit.
If you really want to move the signals to the last bolt vs. elsewhere it can be done but not without some fabrication or getting some aftermarket lights all of which is likely more time consumming and coslty than just moving them to the tag bracket or under the rear brake light. You could possible get the short stalk mount from JP cylces and see if it will work which will tuck your lights in tight in their current location and allow room for the bags.

Did you buy them used? I thought the new saddlebags came with a kit to relocate the turn signals to the last hole in fender strut, though not 100% sure..........should be included for that kinda' money.

Here's a pic of my '05

The bags did come with rear sig relo hardware, moving them a bolt hole back on the rear fender strut. It CAN be done (did it myself!).
I have the install instructions on a pdf file I can e-mail, but it's at home so I'll send it when I get there tonight...
