I got the custom crome front turn signal mounts that put the lights on the pinch bolt on the bottom tripple tree. my question is two fold.
#1 I dont have a stand so the bike will be leaning during the installation. Will this cause any miss allignment in the front end when I loosen each side to install the brackets?
#2 What is the correct torque for those pinch bolts when I reinstall them?
thank you. By the by my bike is a 2005 XL1200C. Thanks again.
1- no it shouldn't because you're only loosening one set of bolts. The top tree (or bottom, depending on where you're planning on installing the signals) will hold the sliders in place.
2- 30-35 ft/lbs per my FM for a 2001 sportster. I do not know if this torque value changed for your model year. That's all the more reason for you to invest in the best tool you can buy for working on your bike- the factory manual.
Cheers,
Luke

Ok that makes sense. 33ftlbs it is.
I agree the book is a good idea as is a lift. Just have to set aside a few bucks for them. X-mas drained the funds. thanks again and happy new years everyone.
