WTB (or borrow) 81 sporty pipes
I have a chopper with a 81 sporty motor, need to have it inspected for a new title and VIN code, custom assembled bike... according to the state.
I have drag pipes right now, not looking to spend a lot of money just to get passed Ohio inspection. I live in Perry Ohio, if anyone has anything, and I don't care what they look like, I care more about not spending a lot of money, or if someone would be willing to let me BORROW a set of stock pipe, that would be GREAT! Otherwise, shoot me a price with shipping, I need them in about 2-3 weeks. I'm going to get the inspection scheduled this week as soon as i get a chance, will have a definate date after that.
Thanks!

You could buy a set of baffles - inexpensive. Bolt them in then remove them after the inspection.

This is going to sound dumb, but again, I'm not a Harley guy, I came from Sportbikes...
How do the baffles work and how do they bolt in? Who sells a good set of baffles?
I will probalby make my own pipes eventually, I've only made headers and exhaust pipes for cars, and one sport bike, but no baffles and the cops were here in literally 2 minutes. I'll attach a pic if I can.
Sport bikes have "cans" on them. My pipes don't have any "cans" or othewise a larger diameter which houses a perfirated pipe with glass packing... How do you do it with straight pipes? Or harley pipes?
2nd pic is my bike that is now in 100 pieces.
I appreciate any help!

Got it. First pic is my bike, when I bought it, rolling Ebay basket-case.
Second and third pic are my friend and the pipes I made one night while we were bored (about a 6 pack and some scrap tubing). Notice the steel tubing was aluminized, you can't tell where the welds were, they line up 100%, the refection shows the story. Where they are shiney in the middle is where I was using a file to grind down and hide the welds. We never did have them chromed, they wern't real popular with the neighbors or local police, but who is? You could literally hear them a mile away, guess that was a little excessive... Ooops.

Any catalog company like J&P Cycles etc will have them. You can install them easily into straight pipes. requires a 1/4" hole near the end of the pipes on the side that does not show. Slide in the baffle, install a short 1/4" bole, washer, nut, and you're done.

They have 4", 12" and 40"... I'm guessing I need 12"?
And is a 1-3/4" baffle going to fit inside of a 1-3/4" tube, or is the OD of the baffle 1-3/4"?

Right 1-3/4" baffle for a 1-3/4" pipe.
As far as length I think the longer the baffle the quieter it will be, (I might be wrong since I've never ran anything but straight pipes)
Is that a red bike with a furry seat cover???
Oh man, now you've done it!

Yeah... About that... My friend is not very bright, but if you knew him, you would just laugh. The bike was just a "stunt rat". I remember the day he put that crap on the seat, his girlfriends kid asked him why he put the bathroom rug on his motorcycle seat
