Primary chain sprockets
I have a 2002 XL 883/1200 conversion. can anybody tell me if the primary crank sprocket on the 883 is differant than the 1200? I've heard it was larger, but when I asked the stealer this they told me they were the same, thanks in advance...

My dealer has the parts list manuals where we can browse them. If yours does then go have a peek. Anyway, it's a good excuse to go to the dealer and ogle some bikes.
I would think the primary chain parts are the same. The final drive sprockets are probably where they differ.

for the rigids, they're both 35T
For the rubberheads, the 883 is 34T, the 1200 is 38T
I'm not sure if they're interchangeable between the rigids and rubbers, but I know you can swap the 34T for the 38T on rubbers.

Thanks guys, I'll be checking to see if they are changeable. May be less expense to go 30 on secondary, also easier. Is the trarry gearing differant on the rubber mount 883 and 1200? Is this why the primary is differant or is it to justify an engineers job?

Since you've got a rigid, I'd be interested in if you can get the 30T secondary pulley to fit with the stock belt. I went to a 29T and from what I could tell there MAY be enough room, slide the axle as far foward as possible and prey. If you get it, let me know.

I'll probably take the cover off and measure it first, then get the diminsions from the stealer and go from there. I will post my findings. Gonna wait till I can stay warm outside though. 7 degrees. Winter over yet???????????
