.35 rem

Anybody else have a .35 Rem. rifle? I bought a Marlin 336 100yr anniversary a couple of years ago just cause I could, it was at a great price. Anyway I never even bought ammo for it. Recently a buddy of mine gave me a box of Hornady ammo with flex tips. Anybody use these yet? They're 200gr. He swears by them and is claiming cazy accuracy at long distances. Figured I would see what kind of feed back I could drum up. Thanks

I've had a .35 Rem for almost 20 years. It belonged to two different uncles before I inherited it. It too is a Marlin. I've killed a pile of deer with it and brought it bear hunting in Maine. Ballistically, almost identical to the .30-.30 but packs a bit more punch. It's not really a long range round, but heck, you can lob it anywhere with enough practice. Check a ballistics table and you'll see how fast this round drops at longer ranges. Anyway, I have loved it for deer hunting in really bad weather since mine is not scoped.

Great deer hunting round out to 100 yards....good knockdown with that slow 200+ grain bullet. Can be a pain to reload though with that sharp neck. I had one years ago and used 230 grain round nose.

I have a Marlin 336 in .35 Rem, have had it for a little over 6 years now. It is an outstanding rifle on deer and hogs out to around 150 yds, anything past that and your likely stretching it. Like others above have said, it's heavy, it's slow, but it does a number if used at proper ranges. I generally use either the 200 gr Round nose or the 180 gr flat nose (if you can find them). The New Hornady Leverultion (or however it's spelled) is supposed to be far more accurate in a lever gun.

I have 35 Whelen, similar but different. I think all 35s are the unsung caliber, but great for taking down larger game when loaded properly

I have the same rifle. It's the 100yr anniversary with the medalion on the stock. Great gun from what I've heard, but I've yet to even fire it. I only have the iron sights, so when I hunt I take my 30-06. The Hornady flex tips I was talking about are the Leverevolutions. I was nervous loading them at first, the rounds having the pointed nose kinda scared me all stacked up. I ran them through and reloaded about 5-6 times and no hang-ups or any problems to speak of. So I guess I just need to get out to the range some time and see what I can do with them.
