Default The French, The Americans and Scotland.

The French, The Americans and Scotland.

So what brings all these things together?

Well sad to say it is the French.

The ingredients.

Mix with care.

A French car

An American motorcycle

The Scottish weather

Three weeks ago the Citroen Xantia I was given by a friend who is now serving in Afghanistan started playing up. The power steering went from really heavy, to really light and wouldn’t self centre.

Now in town and at slow speeds this was bad enough, but at slow speeds you could adjust. However once you were over 50mph then things started getting hairy. Now being folicaly (bald) challenged you would think I would enjoy hairy. But surprisingly enough it wasn’t that much fun trying to wrestle the car out of the way of an oncoming 18-wheeler.

So the choices were…

Get the car fixed. No money, so this option was a no, no.

Get the bus. Ermmm, Ummm, what’s a bus?

Take the bike.

Had weekend off and the weather for this part of the planet was wonderful. Dry, sunny and temps above freezing. Option 3 seemed like a great plan. Monday morning arrives, overcast, cold and raining. Oh goody! Perfect riding weather.

It is only 12 miles to work and in that 12 miles I had gale force winds, torrential rain and for the last 3 miles, snow! Was I happy? Was I !!!!!!.

However 3 weeks later the car still isn’t fixed and I have to ride everyday no matter how bad the weather gets… The strange thing? I love it!

So the car is getting sold and I will use the bike everyday no matter the weather. It sure does wake you up fast in the morning.

I love being a motorcyclist, and I love my Sporty even more.

Good for you!!(the riding part of course) Maybe try some real heavy oil in the power steering,it might work for a little while..

Great post kiltbill. The coldest summer I ever encountered was August on the Isle of Sky. Sunny one minute and cold and rainy the next. If I ever decide to to leave the US to live it would be Sterling Scotland, beautiful place. My ancestors came from Sterling.

Here in Miami where I have lived for the last 33 years the only bad thing is the torrential rains in the summer and hurricane season. But then again in the tropics I don't mind getting wet because rain suits get very hot.
