Anyone know what this is: (Above the picture on the web site, it says it's a 77 XLCR, but sure don't look like it to me .. Maybe I'm wrong)

Hi,

in my opinion this is a original XLCR from 77, but without the sticker on the oil tank .

Btw. in picture 2 . What kind of exhaust system and rear shocks are this ?

Default Yep

Yes this is an original they only made them for two years 77 and 78 I think. A buddy of mine hade one and it was a great ride. This has several mods though. The originals did not have an oil filter on them like this one does on the front lower frame this is an after market. The seat is also original but they also made a two seater snap on that usually came with the bike. The exhuast is also original and yes it looked odd but it is the original. They only had a top speed of about 100mph and were kinda of top heavy in the turns. You really had to counter steer these pigs and it was a muscle ride on the twisties. What else you wanna know. It looks like an original Sportster Cafe Racer to me too.

What they said..

It's an XLCR from around 77-78...with aftermarket oil cooler and extra sticker.

The shocks on the 883r in the second pic are Ohlins..the brakes are Brembos (that's what's goin on mine) and the 2-1 dunno...looks like it could be a different can on either a V&H or Supertrapp ...or somethin from a small volume manufacurer

There is a point where a bike is no longer a sportster and that bike is way past it. I'd like to ride it though!

Default It's an XLCR

When AMF owned HD, I had one, I bought a new leftover in 1978 for $2300.00. It was fun to ride, it had a cool siamise exhaust, It came with two snap on seats. It was not a popular bike. You loved it or hated it. It leaked oil, parts vibrated off. I wish I still had it.
