Shaking!!!
I bought this 2003 1200 Custom offa bud for $3000.00 with only 6000 miles on it. It has Stage I modifcations done to it and most importantly it has a Thunderheader exhaust installed. Corbin solo saddle. Now, this bike shakes like a friggin' Chihuahua crapping out a peach seed! If I accidently touch the left mirror when clutching it actually will kinda sting ya! I own a 97 883 which I know will not shake as much as the 1200 but DAMN! So I ask you learned gentleman and ladies, can just changing to the Thunderheader upset the balance and harmonics of this bike That much? I do have the stock exhaust system and the stock seat so change out is not that big of a deal. Any inputs?

Well, if you ride one of these rigid mount Sporties, you know I speak the truth! I just walked in from the garage and went around the bike test tightening all the engine motor mounts and found all to be in good order. Next, I'll put some of those riser urethane inserts and see if that makes a difference. maybe some baby ape hanger would make a difference but baby apes kinda look goofy on those 5 inch solid 1200 custom risers. Maybe 10 in bars wouldn't look too bad but I just saw a 1200 culstom at the local Stealership with like 16" apes and it looked friggin' goofy. Anymore inputs ya wise asses! Ha!

Mine, a '98, solidmount like yours, doesn't shake the way your describing (+1 on the puppy and the pit line tho ) I have stage 1 with stock pipes, 10 or 12" bars on 4" risers.. it is just a dull buzz if that...
FWIW...

I had stock pipes and SE mufflers before TH and did not notice any increase in vibes.

When I was tuning my bike using a Wideband O2 sensor, I noticed the bike was a bit more vibey when it was running a bit lean.

Well, the only thing that I can suppose from all this is that it is just the inherent 1200 vibes coupled with the solid five inch Custom riser and the drag bars are what are making the vibes so bad. Over 70 mph the vibes go down but 'tween 65 and 70 they are pretty bad. Like I said, I'll try the Urethane riser bushings first and then maybe a bar snake system. Thank you one and all.

My 97 does the same thing. Any gear at about 3600-4000k rpm it vibes pretty good, so I just tend to stay out of that rpm range. I'm using 8in risers, drag bars and poly risers, so my vibration is quite pronounced. My 51 pan/shovel chop doesn't vibe the way this thing does, weird.
