On my 2001 1200 custom I am getting a back fire through the carb. It does it mainly when I am holding the throttle about half way open. I took the bike out last year after sitting for almost 5 years. Did all of the fluids, spark plugs, cleaned the carb. Everything was clean but still she back fires. Any one have this problem before. By the way the bike is stock.
Sounds like a carb fart. Search for "carb fart" or "backfire" and you should find some good results.

yep had the same thing happen sept it blew the carby and aircleaner right off the bike it was only after i shut it down and give it a small rev on shut down ....loaded up with fuel then when i started it again it blew it
