A gas gauge is a gimmick? Heh, I'll be danged! Once again, sure I can use the trip meter to gauge my distance.....Assuming there's no punks siphoning off my gas cuz Harley is too cheap to install a locking gas cap. That's happened to a few of the fellows here which is why I'm glad I have a bike barn....the worst one was that some punks took one guy’s gas and left a handful of sand in his tank....guess he got the bonus package. (Locking gas cap is high on my list of things to get.)
Anyways, if I paid four grand for some cheap rice burner, I guess I could understand them skimping on a gas gauge. But a $10k Harley?!? Yeah I'm whining now, but I guess I'm also just surprised that no one even offers one. I’ve asked about 15 Sporty riders so far and each one said they’ve looked for one (some people saying they’ve looked high and low) which indicates to me there is at least a mild interest in one and from what I’ve seen, Harley is normally willing to make money on about anything (you seen the Harley sandals yet?)
Enough said and I’ll let this dog sleep. Thanks for your inputs all,
-Sting

The gas gauge is a gimmick I have never driven or ridden anythng that was fun or even worth playing with that had a gas gauge. And anything I ever flew -- you never trusted the gas gauge as a matter of course. I can't see any reason at all for even considering a gas gauge.

I have a gas guage on my Sporty. Open the gas cap , look in the tank before you start riding .

What, it hasn't got a fuel gauge; are you sure?
Go to the HD UK site and look at the specs for Sportsters (any model except the 883 Standard), and it says it there under Instruments: fuel gauge.
Mind you, I've looked and looked on my bike, and I can't find it!
