brake lever question

i don't know if this is a stupid question or not but is a mid control and a forward control brake lever the same/interchangeable or do they differ. reason asking is theres a nice one on ebay but it says for mid control but the picture on the box shows the lever in both riding positions

The "Harley" ones are different, the end connecting the brake rod is in a different position, i.e. the forwards, the pedal and "connector" are about 135* apart, where on the mids, they are about 90* apart. Also, the mid connector bolt is perpendicular to the ground, where the forwards, it's parallel.

I do believe the connection for the linkage is in a different position because on the forwards the pedal is in a more upright position than on the mids, where the pedal is almost horizontal.
