Default shock swap for an 84

Are there any other shocks from another model or brand that will swap over fairly easy to an 84? I'm most interested in something that would drop it some. Ill post some pics as soon as i mke enough post.

There you go. Struts are just for mock up of ride height. If I can't find shocks that will work I'll machine some struts and run a mini shock seat.

as long as the mount holes are the same diameter and the shock body isn't too big, you could use any length you want.....

Shocks from most any newer Sportster will fit, but the lower bushings will be a little too wide to fit between the shock mounts on the swingarm. If you have the old stock shocks, just press the bushings out and install them in the new shocks. EBay is a good source. I think Nightster/Iron shocks are about 11" eye to eye, and there are tons of 11-1/2" shocks on there.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it (especially if you don't know what you're doing). Most Sportster problems are owner-induced.
