Cool Rubber Mount Exhaust

Folks,
Has anyone tried and succeeded in modifying an exhaust (2 to 1) for a rubber mount to a frame mount Sportster?

Cool

This might be seen better and get more replies if posted in the exhaust section. Maybe a mod can move it...?

I've put V&H Straights for a rubbermount on a 88... but I guess that doesn't count...

The pipes will bolt right up to the heads with no issues, you will just have to make new brackets for the mufflers which should be pretty easy since you can bolt them anywhere along the frame unlike a rubber mount.

For what it's worth, I have a set of Rinehart 2-1 pipes coming. I'll let you know how it goes with the mounts. Reason for the 04 pipes on an 03 is money. Got them for $250. If I can't get it cheap, I can't get it!

Well, no luck. I've tried every way to get the pipes mounted with mid pegs and it won't work. I tried with a set of forward controls and it "could be made to work" but look like it was made with tinker toys. Guess I'm not very good at fabrication.

Dan was right, the header does bolt on. The the problems start. The big problem with the mid pegs is the header hits the brake pedal. It tries to straddle the header but just won't clear it. With the forwards, I would have to make a spacer and keep the header about 1 1/2 inches out(away form the motor) from where it should be. Then my leg would be rubbing the heat shield and the brake pedal would be behind the front header pipe.

Bummed.

I did it with a 04-06 Supertrapp.

Show us some pics of what kind of clearance issues you're having with the brake pedal. It may be possible to modify the pedal to get it to clear the header.

I don't have any more pics than this, as I ripped the bike apart after this to do the XB swingarm swap. It can be done.

Sorry, no photos. The camera died and I put the stock pipes back on. The brake pedal hits on both the bottom projection that holds the brake rod and the arm itself hits the header. The pipes are configured slightly different than yours Puddlepirate. The brake pedal would need to be drastically altered to fit the header. Thanks for the comments.
