I lied
Some of you married guys might understand. I have a wife (married 21 years and counting). Before I buy 'bigger' items for the bike, I usually consult her and explain what it is and why I need it.
I can remember just recently when I got my last lot of bits, that I said something like "it's just how I want it now, I'll be happy with it for quite some time now" etc.
I lied.
Well, at the time I believed I was telling the truth.
But then I started thinking about a clean rear guard, side mounted Model A tailight and plate bracket, and RK shocks with lowering blocks!
I guess we've all heard it before: "it never ends".
I guess I should be more honest in future.
"Yeah I'm most likely gonna keep playing around with it, and one day I might get to the point where I don't wanna change anything anymore"

If you don't discuss the purchase at all, is it lying?
I think I have sinned....

It's not actualy lying...it's kinda the same as saying "I'll never drink again" during a realy bad hangover...no one should actualy take it serious...

Saying "this will be the last item/mod" is only proof one is still in state of denial
Ask me how I know

Am I the only one here who actually got his (or her) bike the way he likes it?
I bought mine new in 06 and mostly stopped adding/changing things sometime in 08.
Since 08 I've added detachable saddle bags which only go on for long trips and spend very little time on the bike otherwise.
I've also added a trailer hitch for the 2-up Texas trip but once that trip was over I hung the hitch on the garage wall until it's needed again.
Normally, the bike looks just like it did in 08 and I like it just as much now as I did then.
I'm done investing, now it's time for the bike to pay me back in miles and I'm hoping it will age with grace and character just the way it is.

hell, i just rebuilt the whole bike last year and i'm already looking at it's next step in life.
it'll never end. the only way to get it too stop would be too shut down all online forums and picture sites, and get all the magazines to stop including pictures and product adds in their mags. then we will no longer sit and dream (or drool) over things we want
that will never happen so i guess we'll all continue too dream on ....
