difference in sliders.
How can you tell by looking at or measuring if a 39mm dual disc slider is pre-99' or 2000+?

Hmmm, not sure about that. A dealer phone call might be able to answer?

If the Showa sticker in still on it, that may be a clue.

Hey Chris. You have to clear out some of the mail in your inbox. It's giving me a "full" error. Just a heads up, sometimes you have more in the "sent" box than in the inbox, but the sent messages count towards the total messages. I'm not getting any replies on my post: http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/s...d.php?t=718807
I'll unwrap these and bring them down to the Sportster tomorrow to see if I can spot any differences to my stocks.
If anyone else has any info on what year these are meant for, the forks are dual disk for 39mm forks, chromed, and say Showa 9D24 on them.

What does the showa sticker mean? I think he said something about that.

It'll have the Showa part number on it. On the inside by the fender mount tabs.
If they are pretty much the same as standard XL or FX sliders, they would probably fit just about any year. Maybe not the XL Sport with adjustable dampening, but maybe... Can't find anything on them myself...
Looking...
Showa site is useless...

So do both the pre-99 and 00+ both have showa part numbers on them?

I took both sliders out of the box. The right side says Showa 9D24, the left side says G590-L Showa 3F16 SA-4. Does that help anyone ID these? I believe they might be from a 1200R... not sure... Can anyone verify?
